Save 20% on Your Restaurant Bill

In a constant pursuit of justice and an attempt to keep the area as affordable as possible, here we put our local social life on the line to tell you two tips on how to save money.

Tip #1

While colones and dollars are accepted equally well anywhere, anytime there is a conversion, you're faced with someone pulling out a calculator and manually plugging in their own exchange rate. It is always below a bank or credit card exchange rate.

This is not a big deal, unless is way too low. Your $18 breakfast for two could actually cost you $20 or more when your currency gets converted! What are you're options? Carry both colones and dollars, pay with a credit card, or pay in the same currency as what is quoted on the menu or price tag.

Tip #2

Many places automatically include a 10% tip on your bill. This is the amount paid to all of the service help in the restaurant and your server probably earns about 4%. Adding and additional 6% to the total bill is the least that is expected. We encourage you to leave even more for good service, and even more for great service. If your table setting and drinks arrive after your food, no additional tip!
